Bryan E. Winder
Chief Master Sergeant Winder is the Superintendent for the 342d Training Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. As AETC’s most diverse unit, this squadron is soley responsible for training and producing the Air Force’s Battlefield Airmen who are the “Air-to-Ground Interface Bringing, Air Power to the Battlespace.” The 342d is also home of the Basic Combat Convoy Course and Combat Airman Skills Training. Currently, the squadron additional runs the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Prelim Course, SERE Selection Course, Security Forces Advanced Training, Combat Arms Apprentice, and trains all Basic Military Trainees in M16 qualification.
Chief Winder was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan and entered the Air Force in April, 1983. After surviving a near fatal parachute accident in January, 1985 which nearly ended his career, he has spent his entire Air Force career as a Pararescueman with various responsibilities and exciting tours of duty, including tours on two Major Air Command staffs. He has deployed numerous times in support of DESERT STORM, OEF/OIF. He also supported many NASA Space Shuttle Trans-Atlantic Landing Sites. His assignments include bases in Idaho, Okinawa, Florida, Korea, Georgia and Texas.
